Bat Out Of Hell The Musical at Peacock Theatre

We were invited to see @batthemusical on Thursday evening at the #Peacock Theatre in Londons West End.

The theatre was very welcoming and pleasant from everyone we spoke to from staff to security.

Unfortunately our seats were in the stalls and I had a rather tall person sat in front of me which I spent most of the first half having to sit with my head on one side or almost resting on James shoulder. In the second half of the show we moved to the circle which had a better view.

The performance itself had a few hiccups from a few sound issues; which obviously were being addressed and occasionally you didn’t hear the cast (although if you know the show well… you’d be able to follow it very easily)

The musical performances from the cast and performers were incredible; @glenn_adamson_ and @katietonk play the role of Strat and Raven; they’ve really grown in the role and it is a delight to see them on stage bouncing off each other so well and their vocals and harmonies are stunning.

Returning to the roles of Falco and Sloane are @realrobfowler and @shar.sexton who are no stranger to this show having been in every version since it started. Paradise By The Dashboard Light is fantastic by the pair of them and is comedy genius. If you pay closely enough, watch as the car is pushed off at the mic stand and Robs grey jacket; if you spot it. It’s a little game he likes to play. (If you know, you know). From the pair of them, the vocals in all the songs they get to sing are incredible they are truly a delight to watch.

One thing I really wish that the show would develop is Jagwire and Zahara character so that we know more about them and why they are in the lost; we’ve lost a lot of dialogue to why Zahara works at Falco towers… it’s a mystery. Although; the two songs that @georgiabradshaw32 and @ryanjesse95 get to sing on stage are just simply the best these are “Two Out Of Three” and “Dead Ringer” two iconic songs. The vocals really blend well together; and I would like to say, that Ryan’s voice reminds me of Dom Hartley Harris who originally played the role and features on the cast soundtrack. Ryan stands out and plays Jagwire brilliantly.

The show uses handheld microphones but this shouldn’t cause any issues or distractions as they are used to make it pick up the vocals better and make it sound better as the radio/head mics aren’t always as good. They don’t pick up the sound as good. So the handheld mics, really show off some great vocal performances from the cast!

Overall, the performance was great. The seat I had in the first half wasn’t. Second act so much better and thanks to the peacock team for accommodating a move.

We give Bat Out Of Hell - The Musical

it’s on tour until September and in London until 7th.
