The Choir of Man is currently playing at The Everyman Cheltenham Theatre until Saturday and unfortunately, if you are looking for tickets I'd suggest contacting the box office as they are very limited seating (this is due to how popular it is!).
There's a very unusual set up for this show, now as you have seen on Instagram for Everyman Cheltenham, you will see this isn't your average show set up. I won't spoil the surprise as it's unique and one of a kind for theatre.
Warning: There's lots of on stage and in audience drinking
The show overall was interesting to say the least. There's some incredible vocal performances and some songs that really stand out was "You're The Voice". Which was very powerful number in the second act.
Now, I don't normally give a shout out to any particular member of the show, but Nail Woodson came on at the interval and really hyped the audience up, not that they needed any encouragement.
I enjoyed the performance overall; I thought it was very well done and it brought up some very important topics about checking in on your mates, and making sure they are ok, also there was a fitting end where they sang a song, which you could raise a glass to a loved one that you wanted to remember and have one last drink with. Very fitting ending to the show. There was no storyline, it was just words, poets and famous songs, sung by a group of incredibly talented musicians, singers, whilst having a pint or too down at the local.
They also, invite a local Choir on to the stage at the start of the week, and its something they announced at "The Big Night Of Musicals" that they were doing; which we were their watching when they announced it and I thought it was a brilliant idea as the Choir had been rehearsing Chandelier, which is a number at the end of the First Act; The Choir had no music, it was just voice and it was outstanding, goosebump moment with the cast on stage looking in amazement at how brilliant they were.
The show was founded at the Edinburgh Fringe festival years ago, and has been on the West End and now embarking on a UK & Ireland tour. I have included the original recording for you to check out the songs they have sung in the show and encourage you to book tickets (which I have included a link for Cheltenham below)
