Tuesday 3rd February we were invited to the iconic London theatre, the London Palladium, for their 40 year celebration and what a night!
A Show that is very close to my heart for family reasons this was an invite we couldn't turn down, to support the incredible cast and crew who put on a three hour marathon of a gala performance! I couldn't have thought of a better venue to do it in. A big thank you to the London Palladium staff who moved our seats due to James not liking the height of the seats we were originally allocated.
One of the many things that feature in the show is their incredible sketches, including Trevors Mick Jagger impression (photo above) which was even funnier than I remembered, Trevor does a range of impressions, from Cliff Richard, to Mick Jagger.
One of the many things that That'll be Day do is support charity which is the Make A Wish Foundation that they collect through their bucket collections at the end of every performance and they have also released a very special charity single with Tom Ball, who was the guest on the night of the performance. This was a heartfelt moment as they brought just some of those who had their wish on stage, (see photo above). Over the years they've managed to raise £556,000 for the charity which is an incredible amount. It's an incredible charity so if they have a collection bucket and you are able to share some money, please do. You may even get to meet the stars of the show at the collection! We've met Gary and Trevor, and they are very down to earth and humble.
Now, the question on every fan of That'll Be The Day, is "Did Gary get to sing Pretty Woman?" - We know that it's a running joke that he has never been able to perform the song with them always sabotaging his performance, either by blowing him up, arresting him or just simply turning the power off... well, lets say I would have been seriously disappointed if he hadn't been given the chance to perform it and after a few false starts, guess what! Gary did indeed sing Pretty Woman and yes, they took Trevor hostage so that he couldn't interrupt it, let's say, it was hilarious and we all cheered when he started playing the song!
Nikki Renee Hechavarria who is one of the performers for the show has an incredible range in her vocal talents and is a standout amongst the performers on stage and really took to the stage with great presents, her and Ollie (as see above) enjoying a moment on stage with her performance as the late great Tina Turner.
The end of the night we had a big celebration with the balls, being thrown about the auditorium whilst celebrating the end of the 3 hour performance. It was such a great night and it was a pleasure to celebrate the 40 years of the show at such an iconic venue in London's West End. The performance was great and here's for another 40 years of such a great show!
Things to know!
if you are seeing the show, the run time is 3 hours, most of the performances start between 7pm and 7.30pm and finish just before 11pm (or after) but it is worth mentioning it is always subject to change. If you are relying on public transport make sure you check with the box office for its estimated run time and if unsure find a cheap hotel near the venue.
All photos are taken from Bradey & Mills, and we would like to thank That'll Be The Day and the PR Company for the invite to this iconic show and to the London Palladium staff for being so welcoming to us and to the audience for making it a fantastic atmosphere
